2015:  Ashridge: Black Leopard:

Walked  out in the middle of the road adjacent to the golf course seen by a witness in an oncoming car. Black leopards have been seen in this part of Buckinghamshire before including a witness on horse back watch a large black cat predate a dog in 2005.

2015:  Denham: Eurasian Lynx:

About 10am on January 1st 2015 a gentleman contacted me regarding seeing a Lynx from about 100 yards on the outskirts of Denham. The creature as described matched the behaviour of a lynx completely with a similar sighting happening about a mile away last month. There is no doubt this animal or 'animals' are using the Colne (Frays River) Valley's secluded wetlands to hunt and rest.  Once again the sightings of big cats in Buckinghamshire and indeed the wider Chilterns and even Britain is never consistent and never predictable.

2013: Ruislip: Black Leopard:

It was about 4.30am in the morning, my wife and three friends were coming back from a house party in Ruislip. As they turned down Joel Street approaching Northwood Hills they all including the cab driver saw a very long large black bounding cat like creature sprint across the road. It crossed from a residential area on the left to allotments on the right vanishing through a gap in the chain link fence. Three of the four people in the car saw the cat, the cab driver saying out loud ‘what is that’! My wife said she knew it was a big cat straight away subconsciously at first glance her mind tried to put a dog in
the frame but it was no way a dog or fox.

2013: Princes Risborough: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

As I was walking down Church lane from the church I looked up and saw a large cat like animal which swiftly moved off the path across the footbridge into the open field. When I reached the bridge i could not see anything in the field at all although there are many trees lining the stream which could hide the creature It was quite dark and appeared to be a dark animal, it appeared to be the size of a labrador. However I was some 80-100 ft away under a streetlamp.

2013: Princes Risborough: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

My wife and I were out walking by the leisure centre in Princes Risborough at about 5PM on Sunday the 7th October and saw a big cat walking on the old train line. We both could see that it was much larger than a domestic cat, its tail in particular was very large, similar to that of the puma on your website. We only saw it for a few seconds. it was a grey colour and about the size of a large Labrador. We thought when we saw it that it would be a strange place for a
domestic cat to walk as we had been on the other side of the train line the day before and it was quite a wild, deserted place. It had quite a presence and
confidence about it too.

2012: High Wycombe: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Lady saw a large puma at close range through her patio window. She was so scared she has taped up the dog flap.

2012: Stokenchurch: Black Leopard:

The sighting has been reported by electrician Chris Newton, who told the Bucks Free Press he has now spotted a big cat there for the second time in a year. The 48 year-old is convinced the animal he saw is a black panther. He only told his wife about the first sighting, which occurred last year.
But his mind was made up to go public after his second astonishing encounter in November and having also discovered other people had witnessed similar creatures in the area.Mr Newton, from Bournemouth, regularly drives through the Bucks stretch of the M40.He said: “About a year or so ago at about 1am I spotted what I thought was a black bin bag on the hard shoulder, as I got closer it moved.“As it moved I only caught a glimpse in the side mirror, but what I saw put a shiver through my spine.“It was a very large black cat. I could see it also had a thick long tail.“I knew straight away that I had just seen a black panther. There is no way that this was a large domestic cat.”

2012: Seer Green: Horse attacks:

You may already be aware that a couple of horses were attacked in their fields on Sunday night / Monday morning. The vet believes that it is possibly a large cat that caused the injuries. Both horse had bites and deep scratches, both very shaken. This occurred in Seer Green, South Bucks. Prints have also been spotted in nearby Hodgemoor Woods

2012: Stokenchurch: Black Leopard:

“As I drove past junction 5 for Stokenchurch, I again spotted a large black cat this time I could see it side on. And again I am in no doubt at all that this was a black panther. It was half way across the junction, looking at me as if I had startled it and it stood still.”He decided to research big cats and discovered via the BFP website that there have been other sightings through the years of such creatures. There was a notorious case in the Stokenchurch area in 1983 which made the headlines as armed police became involved in a search. Earlier this year Beast of Bucks expert Paul Nicolaides said he is convinced there are a number of puma or leopard like creatures living in Bucks and surrounding areas. Mr Nicolaides, who has been following sightings of big cats in Buckinghamshire for years, has stealth cameras positioned in different parts of the county, including Stokenchurch and Bledlow Ridge.

2011: Bradenham: Lynx:

A Lynx on our garage roof, it knocked a large lump of wood of the edge of our balcony, waking us up at 1.30am. as it was such a clear bright night I saw the large cat outlined perfectly, I thought it was a large lynx as I could not see a tail about 3ft' long large square head, I believe it was using our garden as a footpath to the Naphill common woods which are quite close, this cat like the one at the weekend came across the fields at the back.

2011: Saunderton: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Just found your site on the internet as my Dad made a sighting this week and he has asked me to e-mail the details. He was metal detecting with a friend on Thursday 29th December at about 3.30pm. They were just off the Princess Risborough to High Wycombe Road near Saunderton just below Bledlow Ridge when they saw the creature. When my Dad first saw it he thought it looked like a Mountain Lion or a Cougar. He couldn't believe it but both he and his friend saw it! It was a sandy colour and much larger than say a Labrador and much longer. It was prowling round the edge of a field in plain view for about three or four minutes before disappearing into a hedge. A little earlier my Dad and his friend had seen a dead fox with blood on its face and in hindsight wondered if they had disturbed the creature with its prey. We were amazed to find that there have been lots of sightings and to find your website.
Please let me know if you would like any further information or if you would like to get in contact with my Dad. Best wishes.

2011: Chinnor: Black Leopard:

I walk in the Chilterns quite often and only this morning saw your poster re big cats. Last year just after christmas I was walking on chinnor hill and I did see something. It all happened so quickly I couldn't make out what it was, but this is what I remember...I was on the footpath above the enclosure where
the sheep are, near to where that big hous has been built. I had my two dogs with me and out of the corner of my eye to my right I heard a rushing sound then saw a black shape chasing a rabbit. It just came shooting past me and I thought it was a black lab. Anyway, it just disappeared.A couple of minutes later  another couple walked by and I said have you got a black lab that's run off and they said no. So I got chatting about what I had just seen and they said it could be a wild cat or something. To cut a long story short, I told my husband and have not really given it much thought until I saw your poster asking for people to e-mail you their sighting. I don't know what I saw but I definitely did see something and it was not a dog.

2011: High Wycombe: Black Leopard:

Hi Paul,
My fiance, Alec, has seen the biggest black cat with a long low tail, today, at 9 am, slinking along the service road (behind the houses in Baronsmead Road) in High Wycombe. He thought it was a puma and took a photo of the huge prints - sorry, I do not have access to the photo as he does not have email facility. Something spooked it and it disappeared into the bushes. Hope this will be of interest to you.

2010: Gerrards Cross: Puma, Mountain Lion (grey dark patches Coloured):

"I was driving home from work, I came around a corner and the creature was slowly crossing the road. I braked and stopped to watch the creature I was in disbelief at what I was seeing as was 100% sure that it was not a fox, cat, dog or muntjac deer. From my research the creature I saw most resembles a puma I believe the animal was probably an escapee from zoo, illegally kept within a home of DIY type zoo. The area in which I saw the animal has a high population of deer and other various wildlife perfect locations for a predatory animal".

2010: High Wycombe: Lynx:

"It was about 07:45. I was heading to High Wycombe from the north on the M40 The Lynx was walking along a track near the motorway on my left. It was about the size of a Spaniel, its coat was a dark brown colour with a heavy look, could not quite believe my eyes.

2009: High Wycombe: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

I have seen the Puma like cat along Watery Lane in 2009 I was walking back from Tesco Loudwater as I was walking down the hill past the woodland there was these big glowing eyes staring at me there was green blue like shining from the moonlight it was night time an very dark I looked it up in one of my cat books.

2009: Forty Green: Black Leopard:

About 20 metres ahead of us an animal crossed the road from right to left. We weren’t quite close enough to see its facial features exactly but it was shaped like, and walked like a cat, only much larger than a domestic cat (I’d say it was about 2 feet tall). When I got home I had a look around on I have contacted the Royal Standard pub (via e-mail) to ask if any other customers/staff have made any similar sightings. Having looked at reports and pictures of other sightings and big cats when I got back home I think that what we saw most closely resembles a black leopard.

2009: Beaconsfield: Lynx:

"I was having a cigarette out my bedroom window last night at approx. 11.45pm, when I saw what I first thought was a fox coming out of the shadows across the road, but as it came into view through the bushes on my side of the road it definitely wasn't. It was too large and stocky, with no protruding snout or tail, also the way it walked off was different from a dog / fox. I am quite convinced it was some kind of cat. Having a look at some photos, very like a bobcat.
I had a look at the ground in the morning, but it is too hard to have left any paw prints. I live on Station Road in Beaconsfield. It
was roughly labrador size and had pointy ears; being colour blind I'm not able to have any great conviction to the colour, but it definitely wasn't a dark colour and unfortunately given.

2009: Henley: Black Leopard:

The latest sighting was made by Nigel Spiers, who was driving to work early on Tuesday morning when he came across what he believes may have been a black panther. He was in Greys Road just before Highlands Farm when he saw the creature sitting at the roadside. Mr Spiers, 45, of Farm Road, Henley, said: ?He was sitting down and just looking at me and didn?t seem at all bothered I was there. He just stood up, ducked his head and, with two loping strides, was through the hedge and into the field. He said the animal was about the size of a labrador. It was jet black, said Mr Spiers. ? I know my wildlife and it was not a dog. I am certain it was a big cat. It looked just like a panther. It had the most beautiful tail, which was like that of a cheetah, designed to help balance when running.

2009: Medmenham: Black Leopard:

It was moving very slowly and moving just like a domestic cat but bigger, I couldn’t allow myself to believe that at first though. I slowed down to slow walking pace and it stopped, laid down very slowly and started to pull itself along the ground, without taking its focus of me for a second. At this stage I knew exactly what it was, 'a big black cat’ I was very scared because I was all alone, and if it would have attacked me nobody would have heard or been
able to help.

2009: Aston Abbots: Black Leopard:

The most recent sighting was made by Jeff Roberts, a worker in Wing who claimed he saw the panther or puma-like creature between Weedon and Aston Abbots. Mr Roberts said he was flagged down by the driver of a Land Rover who also witnessed the creature, which he initially thought was a black panther. The two watched the creature move around in the undergrowth for about 15 minutes before it eventually disappeared.

2009: Chorleywood: Black Leopard:

We reported a similar sighting of a dark brown cat near Watford Road in October 2007. Another witness, a motorist, came forward in February claiming to have spotted a panther in a field next to the M25 in Chorleywood.

2009: Kings Langley: Black Leopard:

A mysterious large cat seen prowling the fields and woodlands of south west Hertfordshire has again been spotted this time in Kings Langley.
Sixteen-year-old Liam Radmore, of Coniston Road, was walking along Barnes Lane when he and his friend, also called Liam, spotted the beast standing in a village field.  Liam, who attends JFK School, in Hemel Hempstead said, I was just sitting there waiting for my friend when we saw it. We thought it was a dog. My friend whistled to it and we looked round for someone walking it. When the boys realised the animal was altogether bigger than a domestic dog they climbed into the field and started walking towards the mystery feline. Liam said It had a slouched back and a massive black tail, but I couldn't see the face. To begin with it was just standing in the middle of the field. We started walking towards it, which was when it ran off into the woods. Liam said the beast ran off into wood in the direction of Chipperfield.

2008: Medmenham: Black Leopard:

Mark, 22, claims he spotted "the beast" close to where Kerry says she saw it. He was walking his neighbour's retriever dog in woods near the RAF married quarters at Medmenham on May 5 when it started chasing a very large black cat. Mark, who was standing 60 metres away, said the cat was as big as the retriever, and the dog proceeded to chase it into dense woods. He said: "Although it was far away, it was definitely a very large black cat. I know these woods very well and have seen foxes, badgers and deer, but never anything like this. I am trying rationalise the situation, but I know what I saw."

2008: Nettlebed: Black Leopard:

Jane Alexander was up early on Monday morning as her husband had to take a taxi to the airport. She
said, At 4.15am my pet dog started barking and going crazy. He carried on for about 25 minutes which was just not like him. looked out of the window
and saw this very large, black cat. It prowled up and down outside our window for about 15 minutes until the taxi arrived, which scared it off.? Mrs
Alexander said it most definitely wasn’t a dog. ? It was black, with a lovely long tail. It really was very attractive. I am in no doubt that it was some sort of extremely large cat. I didn’t know there had been another sighting until a friend of mine suggested it could have been the panther that was mentioned in
the Standard?

2008: Medmenham: Black Leopard:

Miss Howard, 19, was walking her horse back to her family's stables off Bockmer Lane, Medmenham, on Monday afternoon when she spied the creature out of the corner of her eye. When she turned around, Miss Howard saw a large black cat, bigger than an Alsatian and with a long tail, only 20 feet away. She said: "I was absolutely terrified. It was straight in front me, looking at me. It was horrible, like a large black panther. "It stared at me for a bit, then turned
its head and trotted off. By that time I was running back to the stables with my horse." Miss Howard, of Frieth Road, Marlow, said she stayed in the stables for 30 minutes before leaving for home in her car.

2007: Beacons Bottom: Black Leopard:

Mrs Walters, 37, of Beacons Bottom, spotted the big cat while walking near Bottom Wood with her five-year-old daughter, Jade, and black Labrador dog, Megan, on Saturday. She said: "It was absolutely terrifying but I didn't run because I thought I would scare my daughter too much.
"The panther pounded like a big cat across a field near the bridle path we were walking on. It was jet black and as big as a tiger or a lion." Mrs Walters' next-door neighbour, who does not want to be named, said she also spotted what looked like a giant panther walking through farmland near Water End Road in Beacons Bottom

2007: High Wycombe: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

A dog walker said he saw a puma drinking from the water’s edge on The Rye, High Wycombe.

2007: Hazelmere: Black Leopard:

A large cat-like animal was seen by Suzanne Young, 19, of Quarrendon Road, Amersham, and her partner Matthew Tucker, 19, of Orchard Lane, Amersham, as they were driving back along Amersham Road from a night out in High Wycombe. The couple went back to the scene of their sighting, just before the turning for Gravelly Way, on Sunday, and found some large paw prints in Common Wood, near Tylers Green "It was more for the
sake of our sanity than anything else," Suzanne added "When we saw it in the light we realised it was far too big to be a fox, or even a dog."
Suzanne told the South Bucks Star that the creature she saw was about 3ft to 4ft tall, jet black, with a long tail. he believes it to be the infamous "Beast of
Bucks" although added that other people's accounts of it have sometimes differed.

2007: Kings Langley: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Tamsin Morris, of Rucklers Lane said she was petrified to discover the beast skulking around at the bottom of her garden. These cats are potentially dangerous. Anyone who says they are not should visit a zoo and look through the fence at a leopard or lion and ask whether they’d like to go inside
the mum-of-two said she saw the lion in woodland behind her house on the morning of Thursday, March 26, In a near identical location to where two boys claimed to see a big cat two weeks later. She explained, I was looking out my bedroom window and couldn’t believe what I saw it was a lion in the woods at the end of my garden. It definitely looked like a lion, dark brown with a great big bushy tail it was really the tail that gave it away. It was definitely no normal cat because of the way it walked; it took long lazy strides like only a big cat does. I was petrified. My children play in that garden so I called the police.

2006: Burchetts Green: Puma, Mountain Lion (Grey Coloured):

A MAN was left stunned after seeing what he believes is the same cat described as the size of a 'mini-leopard' twice in a month on the A4.
His claims will raise speculation that a mystery beast is loose in Berkshire. William Barnard, 30, a nurse from Maidenhead, saw the cat while pointing out to a friend where he had originally seen the first one. He said: "A friend and I were driving along the A4 and I slowed my car to show him where I had seen the first cat."Just as I pointed out the area, we were stunned to see what appeared to be the same animal dart out and chase a fox into the brush. The cat seemed to be a large feline like animal, light grey in colour, with a long tail, about three quarters the length of its body that is what struck me and stood out in my mind, its tail."It also had large black patches on its body, unlike anything I had seen before."This incident occurred only three weeks after Mr Barnard,
stopped his car to witness a large cat clutching a 'dead fowl' in its mouth, trotting across the road.

2006: Princes Risborough: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Café owner Heather Brown told the Star how she spotted the giant feline while walking in the Chequers estate, near Princes Risborough.

2005: Little Chalfont: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

I saw a large sandy-coloured cat which I later identified as a mountain lion on Nightingale Lane, Little Chalfont in the spring of 2005. I had just turned in a  slight bend in the road when I saw the animal crossing directly in front of me, before it disappeared into the hedgerow of what I assume was somebody's garden. It was mid morning, I was in my car on my way to my teaching job in a college and did not have the time or space to stop, although I was utterly stunned; shaking and exclaiming aloud. If I had come round the bend two seconds earlier I  would have hit it and I had the distinct feeling that I, rather than it, would  have come off worse. Needless to say everyone I've told thinks this was my  imagination working overtime, but I am quite clear about what I saw and subsequent googling of images simply confirmed it.

2005: Stewkley: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Hi there, I’m very interested in big cats in the area ever since I spotted a puma or mountain lion on the Wing road just outside Stewkley back in 2005; it was
when I was going home from a night shift in Luton. Anyway last year I purchased a trail cam with infra red flash and have tried it out around the Ivanhoe
area. I d am very grateful for any advice you could give on locating the camera. At the moment it’s in the woods. I have used catnip as an attractant.
Before Christmas I was using cat food.

2005: Wargrave: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

A beige big cat was seen by a train driver near Wargrave station

2005: Hertford: Black Leopard:

Police armed with shotguns and rifles hunted a big cat believed to be on the loose in Hertford. Two officers spotted a "large, feline-type animal" on the prowl by the police station in Stanstead Road just before 7am on Saturday. It sparked a three-hour search involving 21 officers, including two firearms units, and the head keeper at Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne, Colin Elcombe. He was ready to use a blowpipe loaded with tranquiliser darts if the black cat was
spotted again. The area was surrounded on three sides and from above by armed officers, who scaled scaffolding on a building under construction next to the station.

2005: Hatfield: Black Leopard:

Jeff Leo, 58, of Essendon, said he had seen the Beast twice in the last year. Three weeks ago he was hunting rabbits at dusk with his four lurcher dogs near Hatfield London Country Club, Essendon, when a large black cat pelted out of the undergrowth. But that was doubly amazing, according to Jeff, was the fact that he had seen the cat in exactly the same spot a year previously when his dogs flushed it out of a hedgerow. "It was a lot bigger than a normal cat," he said. "I thought it was a muntjac deer but then I realised it wasn't moving like one. And it had a very long, thick tail.

2005: Marlow: Black Leopard:

I saw what I can only describe as a big black cat comparable in size to a large dog hiding in bushes within a derelict barn in Marlow at the top of the hill (as if you are going towards Stokenchurch). It’s an old dairy farm. Obviously it’s long gone but I guess you must track these things retrospectively and look for
patterns. We had a black dog on a short lead which startled it and the dog that would typically chase anything was absolutely terrified, the dog could hardly walk with fear. The animal moved very fast and shook the bush violently as it ran out. It was also witnessed by one other person who didn’t see it but shouted “what happened” as he was right next to the bush. Too fast to get a clear ID on species or if it was collared but it was jet black, short fur, very muscular. Although I am biologist I can’t explain what I saw. It was not a dog. We were very familiar with the land and no sightings before or since.

2005: Hatfield: Black Leopard:

Two lads got a night-time fright when their car headlights suddenly revealed a huge black panther in the road. Jamie Banham,19, was forced to slam on the brakes after spotting a pair of gleaming yellow eyes on the A1000 near Herts Country Club, WGC.
His passenger Ian Allen, also 19, told the WHT: "We were driving down the road and all we saw was a pair of bright yellow eyes. "At first we thought it was a
dog or even a wolf but when we saw it properly it was a massive black thing with yellow eyes like a cat's. I've never seen anything like it."
Jamie, who was driving, flashed the lights and beeped the car horn at the animal which then ran into the undergrowth.

2005: Harpenden,Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

A large animal thought to be a big cat has been spotted in Harpenden just weeks after a similar feline was caught on CCTV in Hertfordshire.A woman out walking her dog spotted the panther-like animal on Bower Heath Lane and reported it to the police on October 3. An animal believed to be a puma was caught on CCTV in the car park of a security firm in Hertfordshire in September.

2005: Biggleswade: Lynx:

A pensioner was given pause for thought when he spotted what he claims was a wild lynx cat on the prowl in his garden late one night.Terence Gilliland says he saw the animal during a visit to the bathroom last Thursday morning when it jumped on to his shed roof. Mr Gilliland, 75, of Lime Tree Walk, Biggleswade said: "I saw a movement and thought it was an ordinary cat at first but it jumped on the shed roof and stood facing the light. "It's eyes were lit up like headlights and I was amazed because it had got a very small face and two big ears that stood vertically upright and were pointed at the top."
Lynx cats are found in the wild in Canada and Alaska and in Spain and Portugal in Europe. A second person has also come forward after seeing a large cat-like animal off Windemere Drive in Biggleswade.

2005: Tring: Black Leopard:

A HORRIFIED horse rider has told how she saw a little terrier being ripped to bits by a big cat in Ashridge Woods. Nurse Chris Garvey, of Beaconsfield Road, Tring, said she was out on her horse, Burr, earlier this month and was just 30 feet away when she saw a strange puma-like beast darting out of the undergrowth and attacking the small dog. Chris said: "I heard a dog barking and there was a blood-curdling roar before the attack. There wasn't any sign of the dog's owner. "The cat was like a panther or puma and twice the size of a Labrador. It had short, black hair."Chris watched, helplessly, as it pounced on the black and white dog, and then tore it apart in the attack at 2.40pm.

2004: Bledlow Ridge: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Richard Skipp, 59, spotted the creature at Bledlow Ridge while going back to Loudwater, from his work in Thame. He was travelling in a car with
his colleague, Mick Asby, and both men got a shock when they saw the big cat. Mr Skipp, of Clearbrook Close, Loudwater, said: "It was a puma-like creature. It wasn't panicked by us, it just went through the hedge and slinked through. We saw it and then said wow' at exactly the same time. We were very excited. You see all sorts of other creatures on that route, like deers or foxes, but this was definitely a big cat. The picture I found afterward is exactly like it - I
showed it to Mick and he agreed."The sighting took place just before 5pm on Thursday, August 2.
The car was travelling through the built up area of Bledlow Ridge and was approaching the hill dropping into West Wycombe.

2004: Bradenham: Black Leopard:

Motorist Paul Mitchell thinks he may have spotted the "beast of Bucks" in hedgerow as he driving along Bradenham Wood Lane. The 45-year-old BAA engineer said: "It was quite big and jet black. As I approached it in my car it looked up and darted into a hedge."

2004: Beaconsfield: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

A sinister lion-type creature has been spotted roaming near Beaconsfield, sparking rumours that the Beast of Bucks is back. The strange sighting was made by Bob Langston as he made his way home from work on Wednesday, February 11.

2003: Saunderton: Lynx:

The brutal killing of more than 40 chickens in Saunderton has led their owner to warn other poultry keepers to be on their guard for the Beast of Bucks is back. Since the end of January a creature resembling a lynx has struck the same coup on four separate occasions, leaving a trail of blood and feathers in its wake. The enclosure started the year with 60 to 80 birds, but hens, bantams, ducks and even a goose have been savaged and with only 15 chickens left, their owner, who asked not to be named, is worried the culprit will move on in search of more food or even hurt a child. She said: "This has been its larder and it keeps coming back. I want to warn other poultry keepers that once it has had enough here it will move on. Something should be done about it."
According to the poultry keeper the creature has managed to gnaw through thick wire and has even burrowed under an enclosure to get to its prey. She has ruled out the possibility of an animal native to the countryside being responsible, because of the way the animals have been killed."It is definitely not a fox, because a fox would bite the head off anything it kills. But with the goose all that was left was a few feathers and the beak," she said. Three weeks ago the poultry keeper saw from her kitchen window an animal which she described as resembling a lynx. She said: "I thought 'What the dickens is that?'. In the bright sunlight it had a brown sheen."

2003: Cookham: Black Leopard:

Ernie Carey, from Ickenham, near Uxbridge, had been driving for 30 minutes in Cookham with his wife Barbara when he spotted the animal in Terry's Lane.
Mr Carey said: "The animal was jet black and was at least 2ft high and about 4ft long. It had a very long black tail and little ears. It was huge and its paws were like a tiger's. "He said they were going past a house in Cookham when the animal
went past the main gate. It was about 10 to 20 yards ahead. Mr Carey said: "It just strolled right in front and crossed the road. Barbara was driving the
car, I was just looking out of the window in front of us. I was shocked for a split second. The car window in the car was down, I shut it quickly, I didn't want it to get into the car. I didn't expect something like that. I wish I had my camera handy.

2003: Kings Langley: Black Leopard:

Charlie Wray, of Wayside Farm in Watford Road, said: "I came back down the farm at around 8am on Sunday and saw something run out into the maize."At first I thought it was a fox but it didn't run like a fox, it held it's head up high. It was dark brown and had a big head. Have you seen a big cat in the Kings Langley area matching the description provided by these eye witnesses?

2003: Princes Risborough: Black Leopard:

Staff at a furniture manufacturer spotted a big cat resembling a puma prowling along the edge of a field in Princes Risborough.

2002: Potters Crouch: Black Leopard:

When Vanessa Taylor and partner Steve Williams, both managers of the Hollybush pub in Potters Crouch, were disturbed by a loud bang two weeks ago.Vanessa said: "We were just falling asleep when we heard this noise, it sounded like something had jumped over our back gate."The couple, worried they had fallen victim to a burglary, jumped out of bed and looked out of the window not fully prepared for what they were about to see."We saw this jet black thing swaggering down the lane - it was larger than a cat," Vanessa added. While Mark could not believe his eyes, Vanessa was less alarmed as she had witnessed a similar experience ten years before when driving home. She was travelling past the rose gardens in Chiswell Green Lane when she observed, what she describes, as a jet black cat noticeably larger than any wild animal she had ever seen in the area.

2002 Kings Langley: Black Leopard:

Jonathan O'Shea, 33, said: "I couldn't believe it. I was taking my partner to Champneys for her birthday on Sunday at around 8.30am and we went the wrong way and then 70 metres ahead of us we saw something."I couldn't figure out what it was we couldn't register the size of it in our heads. It was mad, crazy."Jonathan, director of Rawstorne Construction and his partner Nicola Sayers, also 33, said the cat was dark brown or black, had a big tail and was the size of a small weimaraner dog. Jonathan said: "I lived in Sweden for a few years and it was bigger than a lynx probably the size of a snow leopard.
"It wasn't wearing a collar and it wasn't a normal cat because of the way it was moving across the road. "It was just the most amazing thing and I haven't stopped talking about it, it was awesome."

2001: Marlow: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Russell Smith, 33, from Totteridge Road, caught a close-up glimpse of the big cat as he took his dog, Holly for her morning walk through King's Wood.
As he approached the area of woods behind Lea Close he heard a loud rustling sound, and then watched as the beast darted out from the undergrowth and ran off. Russell, a delivery driver, said: "I was no more than 15 or 20 feet away from it, it was a big old thing. I was actually thinking a deer's going to
come running out. "Normally I go in the woods and I hear all the birds tweeting. I got to where I saw the cat and there was an eerie silence about it
all. "All of a sudden the bushes just came alive and it jumped out. It got my heart pounding." He added: "Holly, she was a feisty little thing, and she
just wanted to go after it." Russell immediately went home and told his wife, Carrie of the sighting and the pair then looked up the Beast of
Bucks legend on this website.

2001: Chalfont St Giles: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Animal specialist Trevor Smith was called to help police after they took plaster casts of paw prints found on Wycombe Heights Golf Course, in Rayners Avenue, Loudwater. Experts confirmed that the tracks belonged to a young puma.

2001: High Wycombe: Black Leopard:

Having just read your articles on line and particularly about the sighting and plaster cast at the Chiltern Heights Golf Club, I saw a puma about 12 years
ago, I was coming home from work on the Cressex Ind Estate and used to take the Daws Hill route and then down Abby Barn Lane, on this particular
occasion I had to stop for a call of nature, I parked up just after the motorway flyover in Abbey Barn Lane, I popped over into a thicket leading up
to the farmers field just under the motorway embankment, as I was walking close to the fence this great big black cat jumped up and ran across the
field, I turned and ran back to the car, sod stopping for a wee, This cat was also about the size of a Labrador but what I noticed was the way it
ran, nothing like a dog, it seemed to lope rather than run. Please remember that this sighting was 12 plus years ago, I only told my family and did not
report it to anyone.

1998: Chalfont St Giles: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

I, myself saw a large cat much like a mountain lion, that was sandy coloured in the late 1990s in Chalfont-St-Giles.  Newspaper reports the same week carried about 3-4 other sightings of the beast within a couple of miles from mine.  A couple were of a black animal, but at least one other was of a sandy coloured animal

1995: Dunsmore: Black Leopard:

Deep aggressive growls "like a cat defending its territory" disturbed a peaceful April afternoon in Dunsmore on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. The growls alerted residents Rod and Val Hamer to the presence of an Alsatian-sized black cat in a tree amidst thick undergrowth near their garden. The animal climbed head-first down the tree as they watched, jumping the last few feet and stretching like a domestic cat after it had landed. Mr. Hamer found a clump of fur on the bark which he sent to the Natural History Museum. Museum staff are still trying to identify the fur, but say it is definitely not from a puma. Both black and sandy-coloured cats have been seen in the area in recent months.

 1995: Gerrards Cross: Black Leopard:

"I have personally seen something on the site which I couldn't identify which was not in my opinion a dog or domestic pussycat but I'm not prepared to speculate what it was as it was at a distance. It was black and there were no other colourings and it was strong, powerful and muscular and moved

1995: Coleshill: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Another sighting of the Bucks Beast in the Coleshill area has been reported to the police. What was believed to be a tiger was first spotted in the Chalfonts area resulting in a police helicopter and officers being called out to track down the wildcat. Nothing was found. The Star made an appeal for anyone who saw the animal to contact Amersham police station. Various sightings have since been reported. On Saturday the beast was spotted in a field in Hill Meadow, Coleshill. It was described as sandy coloured and around three feet high. Police investigated and were told a woman heard what she thought was something possibly chickens being killed in a wood. A search failed to trace the culprit.

1995: Chalfont St Peter: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):
A cat-flap is on the cards at Chalfont St. Giles. Following a police search for a 'tiger' in the grounds of Buck's College Campus in the town, the Buckinghamshire Advertiser has set up a "beast hotline" and is offering ?100 reward for a photo of the Bucks Beast. One hot-line sighting came from Leslie Hockman of nearby Chalfont St. Peter who says the beast scratched bark off a tree in his garden at 1.40am. "Then it went to toilet under my fir tree."
Reports of the 'tiger' concern a ginger or orange coloured cat about 2 and a half feet tall which confirm police suspicions that the animal fits the description of a Cheetah or a leopard.

1995: Gerrards Cross: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

A goat’s skeleton has led police on a new trail to the whereabouts of a wild cat which is believed to be roaming South Bucks. The remains were discovered by the sister of the goat's owner, Alan Mack, in Gerrards Cross, last Saturday afternoon. This is the first attack of this kind Alan has experienced in his 20 years of looking after the animals. The goat, which is one of 40 kept by Alan, went missing a week before it was discovered. He informed the police on Sunday due to the unusual nature of the attack. Alan believes it was not a fox which killed his goat as they generally leave bits of the prey scattered around. He added the pelt would have also been too tough for the fox to eat. The significant thing about the skeleton is that it was completely stripped of meat. The skeleton also looked fresh as if it had been stored somewhere safe and not outside. Alan said: "Big cats very often take their kill into a tree and come back and eat it later. When we found this skeleton on Saturday it was soft and pink- it hadn't been laid out in the open air for the week that it had been missing."
He said when he contacted the police he had expected them not to be interested but they sent someone around to look at the skeleton and to take details.

1995: Gerrards Cross: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Midweek has linked up with police and eye-witnesses to produce the artist's impression of the elusive Beast of Buckinghamshire. It may be the only image of the mysterious big cat that the public will ever see. Former Kenyan game park warden Roger Dunn, who is on standby to help police track down the animal, said: "It would be marvellous if somebody got a photo but that is pretty remote, about as likely as a photo of the Loch Ness monster."
He was due to hold a press conference today to issue advice to the public on how to deal with the beast. Police Superintendent Roger Young is convinced there is some kind of animal roaming the South Buckinghamshire area. The search has been stepped up after a goat carcass was found in Gerrards Cross last Sunday. Mr. Dunn, 62, of Stanley Hill, Amersham, used to track and move game around African wild-life reserves. His advice to the public is: "They should not try to go towards it. They should just observe." He said unless it was young, or wounded, it was unlikely to attack. Eye-witnesses say the animal, about the size of an Alsatian dog, is a motted tan and gold colour, with large paws and a long tail.

1995: Chalfont St Peter: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

A new twist in the tale of the Bucks Beast has come to light. Recently, the Star reported on two sightings of a tiger in the Chalfont’s area which resulted in a police helicopter and officers being called out to track down the animal without success. It has since been reported that a resident in Pollards Grange, Little Chalfont, kept pumas and cougars in his garden. It was advertised as the smallest zoo in Britain. Neighbours claim that some of the animals escaped in the past. The owner moved around six years ago and the animals were reportedly taken to the Isle of Wight? Yesterday morning residents in Chalfont St Peter had to put any fears of the beast aside when they had to deal with cows on the loose in Denham Lane.

1995: Penn: Black Leopard:

Earl Howe's part time handyman Colin Beverley is the latest person to claim to have spotted the beast of Buckinghamshire. Colin, 43, of Fir's Close, Penn, said he saw the beast on the Earl's Penn House estate in Penn Street late on Friday night, while he was out shooting vermin with two gamekeepers.
"I know a fair amount about vermin, and it was not a cat," he said. "We were out late when I spotted the eyes of a black object with a telescope sight. It was not a fox, and it certainly was not a badger. I have two witnesses and none of us have seen it before." "It certainly can run because it made about 200 yards in a blink of an eye. It would be nice to get a clearer view of it, but it was big."

1995: Penn: Black Leopard:

Coach driver John Bird claims he saw the beast leap over a fence in Penn Woods while walking his Welsh Springer a week ago.
John, 58, of Penn Road, Beaconsfield, said: "I was quite shocked and fearful for my dog. I have got extremely good long distance sight and it was definitely the beast. It seemed more interested in my dog, which was up ahead, so I was quite worried." He said it was about 4ft long and had a long tail.

1994: Hughendon: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

Two women were walking their dogs on Hughenden playing field when they were confronted by an animal described as being 5ft long with a cat-like face and a long tail The Hughenden Puma as it became known has been spotted on numerous occasions in an area stretching from Upper Dean to the northern outskirts of High Wycombe.

1993: Dunsmore: Black Leopard:

It was at night and as I drove down a hill I was confronted with this almighty great black cat standing in the road staring at me, eyes shining as you'd expect. It was about four feet long and at least two foot high. It just stood there for about five seconds and then wandered off into the woods. I then turned around and drove to the local Police Station to report it and was met with a shrug and told I was the fourth person to report seeing it that night. The second time I saw was on the other side of Buckinghamshire near the Bedfordshire border just last year in very similar circumstances.

1990: Cryers Hill: Puma, Mountain Lion (Sandy Coloured):

In 1990 teacher Florence Day got the fright of her life when she says a big cat leapt over the bonnet of her car as she drove along Four Ashes Road, between
Cryers Hill and Terriers. Sheb only went public with her sighting four years later, after reading in the Bucks Free Press about other sightings. Mrs Day, now 65, of Friars Garden, Hughenden Valley, remembers the day well.
She said: "It was in the middle of the day during a thunderstorm. I remember thinking: 'I wish I hadn't seen this' because I thought no one would believe
me. "It was a mountain lion. It was not a domestic cat. It was a distinct sighting. It was frightening."

1983: Wendover: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Big cat put in an appearance at Halton, near Wendover. Four women observed the animal in woodland. They called the police who, highly organised by now, quickly conducted an intensive search of the area. Despite their best efforts the police never found that or any similar animal.

1983: Stokenchurch: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Big cat returned to the Stokenchurch school playground. The Viccars were away, but this time three other residents of Marlow Road had the cat in view for almost thirty minutes, during which time the police were telephoned. This time the now well-practised officers arrived quickly, to find that the cat had
jumped over the wooden fence and disappeared into the bushes close to the M40. Although they set off only a few minutes behind it their thorough search
revealed nothing.

1983: Chinnor: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Seen near Chinnor cement works. This time the police went for subtler tactics and investigated with the help of a tracker dog, but again to no avail.

1983: Stokenchurch: Spotted Leopard (mottled tan):

Mr Philip Viccars had just finished shaving one morning when, looking out of his upstairs bathroom window, his attention was drawn to an unusual animal quietly padding around in the playground of the local Stokenchurch First School which was at the end of his forty-yard long garden. He and his wife then went down to the bottom of their garden to get a closer look at it. There was a fence which separated them from the school property and this left them between forty and fifty yards from the animal. They had a clear view, and both immediately realised it was a large cat, about four feet long and between three to four feet high. It had a long, thick tail which was dark brown to black in colour. It also had dark hindquarters and ears, but a patchy brown and tan coat on its back, shoulders, belly, head and legs, and it looked well - very sleek and agile. They rang the police and alerted their neighbour, Margaret Brooks. She too watched it for ten minutes until it disappeared over the fence and into the bushes beyond the playground.

1983: Chinnor: Black Leopard:

Bob O'Neill, of Greenwood Avenue, Chinnor, came across a large cat while walking along a footpath with his grandaughter behind Chinnor cement works. He went to scare the animal away from his granddaughter, Rachel. But the animal flattened its ears, dropped its belly to the ground and continued to advance. The cat got close enough for Bob to hit it twice on the nose with his walking stick before it ran off.
